Privacy Policy — Data Khata
- Data Khata shows how much mobile data and Wi-Fi each app on your phone has used. It reads this from Android's own records, on your phone.
- We do not upload, sell or share your data usage, your list of apps or your settings. We have no servers and no user accounts.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect some device information (such as the advertising ID and IP address) to show and measure ads — see Advertising.
1. Who we are
Data Khata ("the app", "we", "us") is published on Google Play by the developer of rocknrolls.app. If you have any question about this policy, contact us at the address in section 11.
2. Information the app uses on your device
To do its job, the app reads the following information. All of it is processed only on your device and is never sent to us.
| Information | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|
| Data usage per app (mobile data and Wi-Fi, foreground and background, download and upload) | This is the core feature: showing which app used how much data. Android records these numbers itself; the app reads them with the Usage Access permission that you grant in Android Settings. |
| List of installed apps (names and icons) | To show you each app's name and icon next to its data usage. |
| Hotspot status and data shared through your hotspot | To show how much data went through your hotspot and to apply the hotspot limit you set. |
| Phone state (only on Android 8 and 9) | Older Android versions need the SIM's subscriber ID to read mobile data totals. It is used only for that query and is never stored or sent anywhere. On Android 10 and newer this permission is not requested. |
| Your settings (daily data plan, reset time, alerts, app limits, hotspot limit, night free-data hours, language, theme) | Saved on your device so the app remembers your choices. |
We do not collect your name, phone number, contacts, messages, photos, files, precise location or browsing history.
3. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app shows alerts on your device (for example when 80% or 100% of your daily plan is used, when an app crosses its limit, or when your hotspot crosses its limit). These alerts are created on your device from the data described above; nothing is sent to us.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows ads through Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. Currently the app shows an "app open" ad when you open the app (not on your first open, and at most once per hour).
To show ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app may automatically collect and share with Google information such as:
- your device's advertising ID (or, where available, Android's privacy-preserving ad APIs),
- your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general (approximate) location,
- device and app information (device model, operating system version, app version, language),
- interactions with ads (for example, whether an ad was shown or tapped) and diagnostic information.
Google may use this information to show personalised or non-personalised ads, depending on your choices and your region. Your data-usage numbers, your app list and your settings are never given to AdMob or any other ad network.
Google's handling of this information is described in:
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
- Google AdMob and user data
Your choices about ads
- Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): where required by law, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent message before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time from that message.
- Advertising ID: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path depends on your phone).
5. How we share information
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information. The only third party that receives information from the app is Google AdMob, as described in section 4. We may disclose information only if required by law.
6. Storage, backup and retention
- Your settings are stored in the app's private storage on your device. They stay there until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
- If Android backup is turned on, Android may include the app's settings in your personal Google backup so they can be restored on a new phone. Ad-related counters are excluded from backup. Backups are handled by Google under your Google account; we cannot access them.
- Data usage numbers are not stored by the app; they are read from Android each time they are shown.
7. Security
Information stays within the app's private storage on your device, which other apps cannot read. Communication between the AdMob SDK and Google uses encrypted connections (HTTPS).
8. Your rights and controls
- Usage Access can be turned off at any time in Android Settings → Usage access → Data Khata. The app then stops showing per-app data.
- Notifications can be turned off in Android Settings → Apps → Data Khata → Notifications.
- Delete your data: clear the app's storage (Android Settings → Apps → Data Khata → Storage → Clear data) or uninstall the app. Because we keep no copy, this removes everything the app stored.
- For data collected by Google through AdMob, use the controls in section 4 or Google's own tools at myaccount.google.com.
9. Children's privacy
The app is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you have concerns, please contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes (for example, if a feature or an advertising partner changes). The new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Please review it from time to time.
